Recently got a passport photo done there – the photgrapher managed to get a really nice pic (not easy, given the dubject )
Also got business cards several yrs ago – excellent service.

Say it isn’t so. I love this place. I will often shop here on purpose just to avoid the big box stores. They have a great selection of stuff, in a perfect-sized space that isn’t overwhelming. (Plus on occasion they’ve helped me translate a Yiddish word or two… where else will I find this combination of assistance?)

I would think that, like my beloved Remsen Street Graphics, they were primarily a “cottage” business to the people working in the courts and government buildings across the street. To that end I’d also think their specialization would have been a boon, steps or not.

I’ve noticed in recent years that the “drug” stores like CVS, Walgreen’s, Rite-Aid, etc. have school and office supply sections with basic items.

I wonder if the several steps up from sidewalk level were also a factor in limiting access.

The trend towards the “paperless” office probably hurt them as well. Too bad, it was a great asset to the hood.

Not completely surprised but a real loss. There was always someone being rung up so there’s still a need for this type of store. Where do you get this stuff now?!?

Ugh. Shop there often, and it was nice to know they were there for basic supplies unavailable anywhere else in the neighborhood. Another big loss of distinction, en route to complete generification.

With the shift to online purchasing of office supplies and office supply store chains struggling/going out of business, I’m not surprised. I’m sure some offices on Court Street as well as some local residents will miss them. As for me, I rarely went there in recent years.
