Lots of refreshments. I brought out my 15″ deflector so people could get a real look. The view was great and the red moon during the eclipse was a first sight for many. Then I decided to punch up some music for the event.

Cruise to the moon. The Chaperones
There’s a moon out tonight. The Capri’s
I thank the moon Johnny Mistro and the crests on Co-Ed…
Yello moon. The Biscayne’s vpm 1006
Then I decided to get serious and play some ROCKABILLY!
Rock and roll Mr Moon. Harold Shutters goldenrod 204A
Rock on the moon Jimmy Stewart. EKO. 105? Bad rec label
Bule moon baby Dave “diddle” Day. Fee Bee.
Dark moon. Bill flag
Rocking on the moon “the deacon” Nau-Voo. 804
(by this time the crowd we decided to have a howling contest..
I put on some Zola Moon cause of her wonderful, sincere, energy
Moon’s rock. Moon Mulligan
Honky Tonk Moon. Rosie Flores cause she’s the greatest too…
Old Jealous moon. Goldie Fields. Sage 311
Blue Moon boys. Howl at the moon…

Light my rocket (baby) and send me to the moon…Neil Alan. Wolf 112
(talk about double entante wow…..)
By this time the clouds rolled in on our red friend, a lot of people at this point didn’t even notice….
I decided to play some surf
The mayhems. Surfing moon
Beach boys surfer moon..
The clouds thined out enough to see the red moon with slight blur
The end of the eclipse could be seen after that on an intermittent basis but by that time everyone had had their fun and drifted off leaving me to take down my scope and the sound equip….one neighbor complained about the RAB and the howling contest…we threatened to moon him.

But there were lots of people watching on Cadman Plaza West and on Henry Street.

Viewing the moon made me even more aware of how much light pollution we live with. I used to have a 60mm telescope but gave it to a friend who lives in upstate, where you can actually see the stars.
