They haven’t reopened anywhere. But the phone number (718) 852-1421 still works and the outgoing message says that although they are closed, if you leave a message, they’ll still try to help you. There was an article a few months ago somewhere that said he was looking for small office space somewhere to re-open in some capacity.

it does seem as thought Bloomberg snookered us all those years ago– when we thought a park would come first and the neighborhoods acquiesced to the funding model. Should have realized it would be a waterfront development project with park attached, when jurisdiction was given to the Economic Development Corporation.

Exactly! Development CAN be reasonable and responsible.

But BEFORE you do ANY development, you HAVE to put in place the resources and activated services to provide for an increased population. That ALWAYS needs to be done FIRST!!!.

Go to a few 84th Police Precinct community council meeting and you’ll hear someone say the “J” rule….e.g.. If you increase the population…you (first) want more cops fire and ems…first

Well that is a small part of a basic sane larger concept that before you have any increase in people you want the facilities to provide for the safety and proper servicing of the new population. Period.

I agree, the posts which focus on exactitudes of form over really critical at this point, substance are both binal and dangerously irresponsible. Think a moment. We have several very serious situations afflicting the national historic place we live and honest concerned residents are now sharing the stage with, well, foodies(!) and grammarians!!!. Look at how distracting from critical, serious issues the last few “contributions” are. Notice they don’t want to deal with an issue or provide a serious counterpoint. No, all they want to is to attack and most of all distract.
