Note to Politicians — please cancel Alt Side Parking in neighborhoods during film shoots!!!

i agree….but the real issue should be that the filming is taking place during Yom Kippur? so people observing and reflecting will have to deal with generator noise and crews making a racket after sundown.

Yes, i understand this is a city, but undue noise on a fri night, during a holy holiday is unacceptable.

  • Chubby Burkhardt

Sorry but the world doesn’t stop just because it’s a Jewish holiday or any other holiday for that matter.

  • Guest

To clarify, Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Friday so there isn’t really a conflict because of the holy day.

  • MonroeOrange

ok…you obviously didn’t read my note…ill give you a moment.

It clearly says ‘yes i understand this is a city, but undue noise on a fri night during a holy holiday is unacceptable’

This is a holiday of reflection, you obviously don’t have the crew sitting in front of your house all night smoking cigarettes, and running generators, like i do.

  • MonroeOrange

I am taking issue with the noise and disruption the crews cause (per my note), during a night that is suppose to be about reflection. I understand normal city noise (having lived here my whole life), but i don’t think they should get permission to film during this holiday. They are filming until 11pm! I had a crane inches from my house on sunday night, with a light shining in all night!

  • Chubby Burkhardt

That sounds like a nuisance no matter what day it is. I hope you are calling 311. The holiday doesn’t matter. Saying the filming shouldn’t take place because it’s Yom Kippur is as ridiculous as the late Cardinal O’Conner saying baseball shouldn’t be played on Good Friday. Put the shades down, turn on the AC, pour some wine and reflect until your hearts content.

  • BrooklynBugle

Filming will go until 11pm Friday night as per poster.

  • marshasrimler

    good idea

  • marshasrimler

    yes there is..

  • Lady in the Heights

The holy day starts at 7:00 PM so it’s only 4 hours of the holy day that will be interrupted. You might want to consider attending Kol Nidre services and then you won’t be home for most of the evening.

Please don’t write on this blog then. Write to actual politicians how about?

  • MonroeOrange

its Yom Kippur…you don’t drink wine, you don’t use electricity. Any other brilliant suggestions?

  • Andrew Porter

We should also ban filming during religious holidays of B’Hai, Mormons, 17 branches of Christianity, Buddhists, Humanists…

  • MonroeOrange

Andrew, if those are high holy holidays than i don’t think filiming should be happening at 11pm…do you think filming should be happening at 11pm at night on a high holy holiday in any religion…i don’t think so.

  • Andrew Porter

I was being facetious, but I guess you thought I really meant what I wrote. Religion is irrelevant to any film’s shooting schedule. Now excuse me, I have to go eat a BLT in honor of Yom Kippur…

  • MiniCooper

They would not be filiming on Xmas.

  • GHB

Don’t be an A$$. Film on Chanukah, Purim, Sukkot, etc., but NOT on Yom Kippur, out of respect to a large Jewish community.

  • MonroeOrange

that’s the point Andrew…it should not be irrelevant…it is not a right to film, its a paid for activity that has to be approved by the city…all im asking is why are they approving a shoot at 11pm on a fri on a holiday.

And you have proved yourself to be quite the jerk…congrats

  • Andrew Porter

Actually, I was Bar Mitzahed when I was 13, but religion is Totally Irrelevant to shooting a film. My final word on the subject.

  • Andrew Porter

Saturday: well, I’m still here. Universe didn’t end, filming accomplished. Did I miss anything?
