    Dear: Clients and Friends

Does anybody have a recommendation for a custom radiator cover guy in neighborhood?

  • Justine Swartz

In promoting her new book “Diary of a Diva’s Mad Verbal Diarrhea” Joan Rivers libeled Michelle Obama a tranny, a transvestite. She excuses her banal trite humorless comments as  compliments to the beauty of males surpassing those posed by women.

  • DIBS

She’s a comedienne. Her spiel is no more valid and no less asinine than what comes out of Jon Stewart’s mouth aimed at the right.

  • CranCure

Does anybody know why the new brownstone never got built on Cranberry? It is still just little more than a hole in the ground…

  • http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com ClaudeScales

Both Goggle Brothers are alive and well. I saw the two of them having a conversation outside Key Food on Montague yesterday evening.

  • marshasrimler

Thank you for your excellent library coverage. Lets have a community town hall on this issue. Will you sponsor it?

  • Allie

LOST KEYS. Monday afternoon approximately 3:30. Blue metal snap clip key ring with three keys. While walking on west side of Hicks north from Pierrepont to Middagh, through Squibb Park, across pedestrian bridge to PopUp pool. If found please contact Casey at checkmate405@gmail.com. Thank you

  • BrooklynBugle

We’re working on a plan for events and talking to locations now. We may discuss the library at one of these events, provided CDL members refrain from hissing.

  • BrooklynBugle

Great news! And btw we accept advertising – we can’t keep the lights on with hugs alone!

Can we get our garbage cans back? We didn’t have enough of them before the 4th, but now they’re non-existent. If you walk along Bedford Ave. in Williamsburg, many corners have 2 or 3 cans. Not intersections, but CORNERS! Can we get a few of those?

  • AEB

GHB, I live near the SW corner of Hicks and Middagh. The usual can for that corner was returned two days ago, and a new can–new to the spot– was also deposited on the NE corner.

    Call 811?

PS, I personally removed two blocks worth of those blue “don’t park” notices that were taped to anything vertical in advance of the fireworks display. They can put ’em up, but it doesn’t look like they’re gonna take ’em down.

  • Rick

OK, this is really off-topic for the BHB.

But maybe not, because I once saw her strolling on the Promenade. Her limousine was double-parked by Cranberry Street.

    There, I made it on-topic!

I was curious, so I just watched the Joan Rivers quote in question. It was just an ad lib, and a feeble attempt at a joke. I defend her right to say it. Although it wasn’t actually funny. Just shows that ad libs are hard to do!

Calling John Stewart asinine sounds a bit prejudiced. He and his writers create some really good material. You don’t have to agree with him to know that. I sometimes disagree with him, but I usually admire how well crafted his arguments are. Even though he can get juvenile from time to time.

I’m guessing you haven’t watched him much, because if you had, you’d know he goes after the excesses of the left as well as the right. OK, more often often the right. But the right has more to go after. ;)

Can anyone recommend a really good, not too expensive dog trainer in the Heights area. Our dog (4 year old corgi) is well behaved, except for when we are walking him. He pretty much constantly pulls on the leash and goes crazy after other dogs (for fun, he’s very friendly, but growls until he is able to sniff them). The other day he pulled me and I got my foot caught in a sidewalk grate and broke my toe. Needless to say, we must get him trained ASAP! Thanks for your help!

    HOW IS ANYTHING OFF-TOPIC???

  • Poplar
  • David on Middagh

Every other top-level comment on this page has (so far) some particular connection to Brooklyn Heights.

  • Justine Swartz

Joan had a radio show. She’d put my jokes on air. I live in the Heights.

Someone was recently asking me what neighborhood all of Brooklyn Bridge Park is considered to be in. At first, I was going to say DUMBO when thinking of Pier 1, but then, I realized that I wasn’t really sure how the rest of the park is labelled. Does anyone know?

  • Bornhere

They are not in the Heights, but I had Manhattan Covers do three different radiator enclosures in my apartment, one of which accommodated an AC. They are creative and neat, and the difference the enclosures made was stunning. I, too, wanted someone from the neighborhood, but I “settled” for these guys and was beyond happy. Good luck!

  • Diesel

    Good luck with that.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

I had the EXACT same problem with my dog when I got him. He was 7months. I HIGHLY recommend a Dog Duty 2000. They don’t have a website, but email them at dogduty2000@yahoo.com. Their names are Csaba (pronoucned like Chubba) and Henreitt. They have done wonders for my little guy. Tell them Ernie’s parents sent you.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

I’m pretty sure it’s Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights. But I wouldn’t say they are part of those places. They are their own.

  • GHB

I agree with BrooklynCoffeeLover. Csaba and Henriett are the best! (She’s a certified dog trainer)

  • Brixtony

This video by Zak George (and many of his others) offers some great advice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mWwU3aWPIU

  • Joe A

Jon Stewart is very funny and his show is very well written. Asinine would be one of the last words I would use to describe him.

  • Brixtony

Walking by the site few weeks ago, I heard a loud argument between a man in charge of the workers and a woman who insisted that the lot belonged to her and that nothing should be done. Legal issues?

  • johnny cakes

BBP is it’s own separate entity. Separate from any other Brooklyn neighborhood culture. They don’t even pay city taxes, they just suck-out our Brooklyn community services to serve their own rich residents. Selfish 1%ers all the way.

  • gatornyc

You are absolutely wrong. The residents of the housing within BBP certainly pay City income taxes and they pay real estatet taxes in the form of PILOTs (Payments in Lieu of Taxes). The PILOT payments go to fund BBP’s annual budget per agreement with the City and State.
