But it’s been empty for decades, and is saved currently by the real estate downturn.

The AIA Guide called it a “miraculous survivor” it was built in 1854 when the company was installing gas streetlights in Brooklyn Heights. I heard the BHA OK’d the demolition, so much for “miraculous survivor”.
