I hope the sides are high enough also, and also opaque enough that they don’t set off my fear of heights. But it’s such a minor saving of time and distance, I prefer to walk down Col. Hgts, then hang a left and go into the BBP bypassing all the tourists at Fulton Ferry.

Invite them over to your place, oh wait I bet you dont have one of your own. It isnt the locals that do it. I wouldnt care if they did. Its the tourists, they think they are in Disneyland or some story book village. Go to paris and try that , those snobs will take issue if you even look a them the wrong way. But when they come here , they do as they please.

I agree…as a kid in the heights i think i sat on almost every stoop up and down monroe place! and we never left our cig butts there, as we appreciated the fact that residents would say hello and walk past us up the steps…that is truly old school Brooklyn Heights, and i hope it never changes!

Poor baby. She makes millions of dollars being a “celebrity” but has to suffer the indignity of someone sitting on her stoop for a few minutes to take a photo.

I grew up in Flatlands during the 1950’s and we all sat on stoops but they were our own stoops. Tourists are necessary for the economy. They spend lots of money here and eat the mediocre food on Montague St. But parking ones self on the stoop of a perfect stranger is, I think, out of line as I cannot imagine traveling to Europe and doing that very same thing.

Not so. We were on Charles St. in the Village and passed by SJP’s brownstone and there were people sitting on her stoop and other people across the street taking pictures of the people on her stoop. No wonder she wants to move.

This phenomenon occurs in BH due to the tolerance of the people that live here. In ANY other area of Brooklyn or the surrounding areas there is no way that anyone would let strangers sit on thier front stoop, bring pets, eat take out, smoke cigarettes and, most offensively, take photos of your personal space with total disregard for the people that actually live here. If ANYONE did such a rude thing in Bayridge, Carroll Gardens, or anywhere in NY, they would be certainly removed from the premesis in a NY minute.

I agree, why make it worse? by bringing more of the useless drones deep into the area your quality of life suffers, no ? I totally doubt that anyone reading this truly wants more discarded items, trash, traffic, people, tourists, stoopers (yes i made that up), in the North Heights. This is not negativity btw it is reality.

The tourists have been sitting on stoops for as long as I’ve lived here. I used to think that they were people who actually lived in the brownstones. What chutzpah to park yourself on someone else’s property as if you owned it.

I for one cant wait until the hordes of tourist’s start coming through the quiet, tranquil areas of the North Heights throwing garbage everywhere, sitting on private stoops and taking up precious parking spots when they walk over to the park. This was a stupid idea from the start. The mega tourists belong on Fulton not in residential neighborhoods. Just wait until the dreaded tourist buses and overflowing garbage cans become daily life in BH.
