Sleepy’s Swanky New Facade

Sleepy’s Mattress store at 116 Montague Street has a stately new stone facade, likely designed to dress up the new three-story brick build above it. Speaking of, we’ve been waiting for more than a year for that residential property to hit the market. So far, building permits remain on the front door, with no signs of activity within.

    Why is the red brick already covered in that white crap? I mean, it’s practically new!

    GHB, the white on the brick is most likely efflorescence.

    The bright red letters don’t really fit the new look they’re going for. They need something a little more dignified now. The Pain Quotidian across the street did a really nice job at blending signage with the building around it – they should take a look.

    I still won’t buy a mattress from them.

    @hicksanthrope. Amen.

    Why not? They sometimes have good sales. At least it’s not another cell phone store. I know we’d all like another independent business, but at these rents, it’s just not happening. Most small town main streets had mattress/furniture shops anyway back in the day.

    @Hicksandthrope “I still won’t buy a mattress from them.”

    Why is that?

  • HenryLoL

    They accept returned mattresses and just re-plastic and sell again…

    Those lights at night are way too bright. I would not be surprised if they are breaking some kind of law. Tone it down guys! Obnoxious.

    We bought 2 mattresses for bunk beds through “1 800 Mattres – you leave off the last s for savings”.

    The merchandise arrived on time at the agreed price and has held up well.

    How do we know other businesses don’t repackage their mattress and resell as well?

    I’ve bought two mattresses from this Sleepy’s location in last 10 years without any problems.

    I did notice 3 security guards/police? guarding Sleepy’s last week. Had no idea what that was about.
