The Calexico Cart is Here!

calexicoLooking for a cheap meal with a view? Calexico, a Mexican food cart usually found in Soho, has been serving up tacos burritos, and quesadillas right here at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The cart is a joint venture by three brothers from Southern California who also started a brick and mortar version at 122 Union Street in Carroll Gardens. Try their signature Carne Asada taco or go veggie and stick with black bean. Visit their website for more info and the full menu.

    They used to have their first cart across from my old office. The Carne Asada Tacos are so tangy and delicious. They rock!

    Went down for lunch today, the cart is right near the entrance of the new park (next to Bargemusic). It is delicious! And the quesadillas are quite large.

    I tried the carne asada taco today. Not bad, but I’ve had better. Not sure I’ll do it again.

    Sampled the carne asada, pollo, and pork, all were scrumptious! Spread the word the cart has opened! I spoke to the dude working there today and he said they weren’t too busy this weekend. I will drop by atleast once a week.

    Don’t worry, the food is good enough that you can be honest and say that the restaurant is in the Columbia St. Waterfront neighborhood, or even call it Red Hook, and people will still come. It’s just not in Carroll Gardens.
